Lemon and Mint Water
Drinking lemon cucumber mint detox water, salted lemon water, and warm lemon water throughout the day is one of the best ways to clean out the liver, alkaline pH levels in the blood, and help your body have better digestion, reduce oxidative stress and support weight loss!
Hot Yoga and running have become a new favorite regular workout routine of mine. I was getting so burnt out on trying to squeeze in a home workout while the kids play that it was making me stressed and unmotivated. Running I love because I can do it with them. And Hot Yoga balances out the rest of my body through stretching, toning and sweating out toxins. A nice little formula for “spring cleaning” the body along with hydrating afterwards with lemon cucumber water to balance out lost electrolytes and flush out toxins. You’ll get clearer skin too!
I make a pitcher (recommend this one) of this detoxing water and leave it in the refrigerator and drink two of them a day. I have been doing this for a couple of month and I have had more energy and clearer skin!
Health Benefits of Lemon Cucumber Mint Water
Lemons prevent kidney stones, aid in hydration and have anti-cancer properties. They are a Flavonoids which helps decrease oxidation stress within the body. The juice in lemons contains pectin, a soluble fiber that has been shown to aid in weight loss. Lemon mixed with warm water and consumed first thing in the morning aids in a healthy digestive track. They’re a surprisingly good source to alkaline the blood in the body, even though lemons are acidic – lemons helps balance your body’s pH. [source]
Cucumbers (Cucumis sativus) contain vitamin A, B1, B6, C & D, Folate, Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium. They contain enough B vitamins, sugar and electrolytes to replenish many essential nutrients, reducing the intensity of both hangover and headache. They are an anti-inflammatory, protect the vascular system and the silicon and sulfur in cucumbers help to stimulate hair growth [source].

All mints contain the volatile oil menthol, which gives mint that characteristic cooling, cleansing feeling- giving your drink a refreshing taste! Peppermint is used to treat gallstones, irritable bowel syndrome and the common cold by breaking up phlegm.
How to Make Cucumber and Lemon Water with Mint
Use 1 pitcher of water and add the juice of ½ a lemon and cut the other half into slices and add them to the pitcher. Then add the cucumber slices. I like to add anywhere from ½ a large cucumber or we have on-hand small Persian cucumbers and use about 2 of them cut into slices.
The more cucumbers, the more cucumber flavor! Add fresh mint leaves and let the pitcher set in the refrigerator for about 1-3 hours so the flavors enhance. The longer it sets the more flavor it has.
Throughout the day I add my lemon cucumber mint water to large mason jar to drink throughout the day. This recipe is a great way to ensure you are getting enough water to thrive, just make sure to drink enough ounces that equal half of your body weight (or more if consuming caffeine and alcohol).
